Do you miss seeing your Shepherd's Center friends? With the help of a little technology we can all stay connected. This informal discussion group meets every Tuesday at 10:30 CT. BYOC (bring your own coffee) and join us for casual chats. Zoom links are emailed to registered participants weekly. |
Interval Exercise In-Person & Online 2026 - CLASS IS FULLTuesday, February 3, 2026 - 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM CLASS IS FULL - New Registrations for Zoom only - call the office for if you would like to Zoom Interval Exercise has reached it's maximum number and we are no longer accepting registrations. If you are interested in joining the wait list or in participating via Zoom, please call the Shepherd's Center office at 314-395-0988. Meets Every Tuesday at 10:30 Five minute intervals of cardio, isolation exercises, stretching and balance done to music. With or without weights, standing or seated - suited to all exercise abilities. Pre-registration required, no walk-ins All registered participants will receive Zoom links to participate online if they choose. Book Review - African Founders: How Enslaved People Expanded American IdealsWednesday, February 25, 2026 - 1 PM - 2 PM Black History Month Lecture Book Review ? African Founders: How Enslaved People Expanded American Ideals John Engel, Reference Librarian, Webster Groves Public Library This presentation has a Black History Month and America 250 theme with a dissuasion of African Founders: How enslaved people expanded American ideals, by David Hackett Fischer. Fischer is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author of other books on America?s founding such as Albion?s Seed, Washington?s Crossing and Paul Revere?s Ride. This book, published in 2022, was a monumental and ground-breaking effort to bring to popular historical literature the full sweep of African enslavement in Colonial and post-Revolution America, focusing on how the enslaved and their descendants enlarged the American idea of liberty. Ten Thousand Stories: Kate Moody and I Community RememberedWednesday, March 25, 2026 - 1 PM - 2 PM Women's History Month Lecture Ten Thousand Stories: Kate Moody and A Community Remembered John Engel, Reference Librarian, Webster Groves Public Library Katherine Twining Moody, known to everyone as Kate, was a Reference Librarian for the St. Louis Public Library from 1895 to 1945. She also grew up in Webster Groves and over the course of her life, amassed a collection of over 10,000 documents related to the history of Webster Groves and the surrounding area from the 1860s until her death in 1950. Come learn more about Kate, the fascinating characters and stories found in her collection, and how the Webster Groves Public Library has made all of this available to everyone online.
